Translation Never Say Die Tour 2013 Emmure, Carnifex, I Killed The Prom Queen, Betraying The Martyrs, Hundredth, Northlane & Hand of Mercy Berlin Astra

It is incredible what an awesome show the bands Emmure, Carnifex, I Killed The Prom Queen, Betraying The Martyrs, Hundredth, Northlane & Hand of Mercy performed. It is time to back track. Carnifex were optically and acoustically bridged the gap between – let’s say oldschool, and what inspired us to compromise. Before there are any words of critisicism climbing over my keyboard, I definitely want to emphasize this concert at Astra in Berlin, was really, really awesome. All the bands were playing the finest sounds and at a very high level. They gave 100 percent – and I may add that all the choirboys actually looked like 120 percent – and created a mega-rich atmosphere.

Actually, we were convinced that the kids wouldn’t allow anyone to take this fantastic evening from them. Quite apart from the cauldron in front of the stage which is or rather was a scene of ‘controlled violence’ as always, we couldn’t make out any aggression. Folks, you guys were really in a great mood! Also the team from Astra has inevitably contributed to this great evening.

After the introduction of this review that carries the character of a final word, we want to return to the beginning of the evening without any further ado.

I stood in front of the Astra, our photographer Laura in front of the Magnet Club. It’s not surprising we could not see each other although the both of us protested that they stood just outside the entrance of the club. Thanks to the density of clubs in Berlin, we were only a stone’s throw away from each other. Meanwhile I was checking the arriving and really cheerful crowd out which mainly consisted of extremely young kids. Rarely there was a grey-haired head to make out. “Who cares!” I thought to myself, ears open, and let’s get through this! Which brings us to the first topic: Open ears… because I have not seen so many large ears or rather flesh-tunnels in my entire life. They were accompanied by a variety of facial and neck tattoos. Apparently it is the new type of the deceitful society to say: We don’t care what you say. Fuck you!

Hey guys, those are our metallic successors. 25 years ago we have passed the evil seed of our mother earth. Now an independent scene has outgrown the cruel ground. If you are not careful, then this ulcer – on its owner’s ass – grows to an incredible size and thus will be more powerful than its aging host.

Laura was now in front of the same club as I was. So what are we waiting for?! Let’s hurry inside to enjoy the first round. Man that was an awesome sound! We were impressed by the quality level of the opening band of this tour. That just goes to show that the supporting bands with their sound can also contribute a considerable part to the success of the evening. You just have to let them show it. The rabid mob was going crazy from the very first second. Hand of Mercy showed what they are made of and fired the club up for the bands that were to follow. It was really top notch what the guys from Sydney showed that night.

Northlane gets down to business

After a relatively short time to play, Hand of Mercy said their goodbyes. Northlane now entered the stage and performed equally as great as their fellow countrymen from Sydney had. The energy level was easily maintained and we were already wondering where this was going to lead because not only was the air burning on stage, no – also the area in front of the stage was shaking for the second time that evening. Hard to believe because somehow every band seemed to be the headline of the ‘Never Say Die Tour’. At least the moving potential of the masses in front of the stage let us come to that conclusion. Northlane left, Hundreth came – the same game from the beginning – the mob raged, the band gave everything, the mood was equally as good, and everyone was happy and satisfied. Particularly the noble man in the ‘cow-costume’ always made a happy face. There were only a few moments that evening when you did not see the cow flying, moshing, or crowd surfing. After each band the cow and his buddy were totally exhausted stumbling towards the bar to sip liquid for the upcoming show.

Betraying the Martyrs reached the first highlight

Betraying The Martyrs as the fourth band of the evening broke the spell of the INSD-Tour for the first time. As before, there was awesome music to enjoy again. The small but fine contrast of the previous bands was that the French dipped their deathcore in a very delicious progressive sauce. Whether the angry mob in front of the stage noticed the difference… I dare to doubt it. However my doubt was turned into belief because just as before the upset crowd was still raging to every damn song. No, the headliner should only be on paper that day.

I Killed The Prom Queen are opening the flight show

I Killed the Prom Queen did not only keep on showing a triumph of good humor in an aggressive way, far from it – they put the audience on edge. I have to emphasize again, such a discharge of energy between 7pm and 12am I am rarely ever offered. Seven bands with excellent bulldozer character and a short playing time are truly exclusive explosives. I Killed The Prom Queen gave their everything before it went into a well-deserved break. Great! One has to pay attention to the air photographs of human flying objects.

Carnifex – more vicious is impossible!

Whoever thought not much more is going to happen on that evening was taught otherwise by the sound check of Carnifex. Our eyes widened and our ears whined for hearing protection. We looked at each other and knew that this sound is not of this world. My goodness that was perfection! That something could top the sound of the first five chapels - I would have previously rejected the thought - if I had not heard what I had heard at that time. (What a sentence, right?) And then it was time: Carnifex entered the through and through sweat soaked stage. From the first to the last second of their show, the guys from San Diego had our full attention. What happened up there on the stage was perfected, aggressive, and high performance-entertainment on the fast track. There was no other band that was harder, more aggressive and faster that evening. Yeah, I would not have been able to make a direct headliner out of it. Carnifex, the guys from the house of Nuclear Blast Records, made the mob go nuts. Just the guy in the "cow costume" seemed to have escaped unscathed. With "Die Without Hope" Carinfex left a new cracker from the stack. The fans loved it and we had the feeling that this number sounded familiar to the mob and did not dampen the mood. Finally, there was the obligatory classic blasting. "Hell Chose Me", the wrecking ball from the 2010 album of the same name, brought the boiling Astra to the brink of collapse. The intensity was incredible. But there was still the real headliner of the evening missing and so I pass the pen over to our Robby.

Emmure gets the very last bit ready

One could truly be of the opinion that with Carnifex about 80% of the audience was ready for a break in an idyllic atmosphere and heavenly peace. But before they were given this well-deserved vacation, Emmure played as the last act of the evening. Without much preliminary skirmishing, the deathcore institution from Connecticut came onto the stage and pulverized Astra into ruins. With "4 Poisons 3 Words" everyone was immediately invited to mosh, while the dance-mad Berliners gave "Solar Flare Homicide" the first great song at their best. With the closer "I SEE A FIRE IN THE SKY" the atmosphere in the club finally arrived at the boiling point. Equipped with a superb sound Emmure played through their collection. If you have seen these guys before you know that there were no big surprises left, but each time they still show first- class skill. With this very powerful sound and clearly well-played songs like "Demons With Ryu", "Drug Dealer Friend" or "Children of Cybertron" became an even better quality than the record. The brutal breakdowns provoked free body massages and symbolized the recurring launch of faster, larger, and more intense mosh pits. With "When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong" Emmure said a befitting goodbye. The enthusiastic were yelling along to "Won’t you be my bride" which completed and concluded the Emmure concert.

GUNS N' ROSES - Live Review - 22.06.2017 Hannover Messegelände

Legenden, Helden, Vorbilder.

Feldbrand Festival 2016 - The Vibe - Slot Machine - Used F.O. - Review

Feldbrand Festival?

Live Review Cattle Decapitation + Letzter - Bi Nuu Berlin - 18.07.2016

Stray Train - "Blues From Hell – The Legend of the Courageous Five" - Album Review
