Carnifex – more vicious is impossible!

Whoever thought not much more is going to happen on that evening was taught otherwise by the sound check of Carnifex. Our eyes widened and our ears whined for hearing protection. We looked at each other and knew that this sound is not of this world. My goodness that was perfection! That something could top the sound of the first five chapels - I would have previously rejected the thought - if I had not heard what I had heard at that time. (What a sentence, right?) And then it was time: Carnifex entered the through and through sweat soaked stage. From the first to the last second of their show, the guys from San Diego had our full attention. What happened up there on the stage was perfected, aggressive, and high performance-entertainment on the fast track. There was no other band that was harder, more aggressive and faster that evening. Yeah, I would not have been able to make a direct headliner out of it. Carnifex, the guys from the house of Nuclear Blast Records, made the mob go nuts. Just the guy in the "cow costume" seemed to have escaped unscathed. With "Die Without Hope" Carinfex left a new cracker from the stack. The fans loved it and we had the feeling that this number sounded familiar to the mob and did not dampen the mood. Finally, there was the obligatory classic blasting. "Hell Chose Me", the wrecking ball from the 2010 album of the same name, brought the boiling Astra to the brink of collapse. The intensity was incredible. But there was still the real headliner of the evening missing and so I pass the pen over to our Robby.
